YCP Supporters Twist Bharat Speech at AU to Target GITAM

Bharat Addresses AU-GITAM Controversy with Clarity

During a recent address at Andhra University (AU), TDP MP Bharat, also the Managing Director of GITAM University, spoke about the recurring political accusations linking him to efforts to undermine AU in favor of GITAM. Bharat, who is also the grandson of GITAM founder Dr. MVVS Murthy, responded clearly and factually to these allegations.

He stated, “They say I’m trying to destroy Andhra University to support GITAM. But that’s far from the truth. Both serve different communities. AU offers affordable education to economically weaker students. GITAM, on the other hand, charges higher fees and caters to a different demographic.”

Balanced Statements Twisted by YCP Social Media

Bharat further praised Andhra University for having over 95% of its students admitted purely on merit, while GITAM has more than 50% merit-based admissions. His words were meant to highlight the diverse academic strengths of both institutions and to shut down political narratives suggesting otherwise.

However, YSRCP-affiliated social media handles have taken this speech out of context. They falsely claim that Bharat insulted poor students by suggesting GITAM is only for the rich. These edited clips and posts are spreading across platforms, igniting class-based tensions that Bharat never intended to trigger.

GITAM Targeted Before by Political Powers

This isn’t the first time GITAM University has been dragged into political controversy. Back in 2020, during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s rule, government officials accused GITAM of encroaching on 40 acres of public land. Several structures were demolished despite GITAM denying any wrongdoing. At the time, many viewed the move as politically motivated, since GITAM is historically connected to TDP leadership.

Bharat: Politics Overshadowing Education

What’s concerning is the growing trend of educational institutions becoming tools in political battles. Bharat’s message aimed to clarify the unique roles played by GITAM and Andhra University in the state’s education system. Unfortunately, his words were weaponized to stoke division rather than understanding.

This situation is a clear reminder that facts must not be ignored for political gain, especially in a state where education is already under strain. Leaders, institutions, and the public should prioritize truth, development, and academic progress over social media narratives.
