CM Revanth Reddy Slams KCR Over Krishna Water Rights.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy strongly attacked former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) over the Krishna water-sharing issue. He said Telangana suffered serious injustice during the ten years of BRS rule.

Telangana Movement Was for Water Rights

Speaking to the media at Praja Bhavan, Revanth Reddy said the Telangana movement focused mainly on water rights. He said people demanded a separate state to secure their rightful share of water. However, he accused the previous government of failing to protect those rights after state formation.

Missed Development Due to Water Mismanagement

Revanth Reddy said Telangana could have developed faster with fair access to Krishna and Godavari waters. He blamed the former government for serious mistakes in water-sharing decisions. He added that the Congress government is now correcting those errors.

Allegations on Krishna Water Allocation

The Chief Minister explained that united Andhra Pradesh had 811 TMC of Krishna water. After bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh received 512 TMC, while Telangana got only 299 TMC. Revanth Reddy alleged that KCR accepted this arrangement. He claimed KCR signed agreements that granted 66 percent of Krishna water rights to Andhra Pradesh for ten years.

Uttam Kumar Reddy Counters BRS Claims

Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy presented details on Krishna and Godavari projects through a PowerPoint presentation. He rejected claims by KCR and Harish Rao that the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Project was 90 percent complete.

Questions Over Project Costs and Progress

Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned the project costs under the BRS government. He asked how a project that cost ₹27,000 crore earlier now requires ₹80,000 crore. He said the previous government failed to supply water to even one acre despite heavy spending.

Congress Claims Action on Irrigation Works

The minister said the Congress government has already spent ₹7,000 crore after coming to power. He added that the government revived stalled irrigation works. He accused BRS leaders of spreading false information and misleading the public.

Water Dispute Returns to Political Center Stage

With these remarks, the Congress government stepped up its attack on the BRS leadership. The Krishna water dispute has once again become a major political issue in Telangana.
