A Major Criminal Has Become an Opponent: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu came down heavily on the opposition, alleging that a “big criminal has been turned into a political opponent.” Speaking to the media on Friday, the Chief Minister expressed strong anger over what he described as false allegations and politically motivated propaganda being spread against him and the state government.

Referring to the Baba murder case, Chandrababu Naidu said facts were being deliberately twisted and misrepresented. He accused certain sections of trying to create controversies by dragging unrelated issues into public discourse. The Chief Minister also reacted strongly to allegations that alcohol bottles were found on the Tirumala hills, calling it a deliberate attempt to create a scandal and insult the sanctity of Sri Venkateswara Swami. He criticized those responsible for not even showing basic respect by making declarations before seeking the Lord’s darshan.

Chandrababu Naidu also lashed out at former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for his remarks on the capital issue. He questioned the logic behind Jagan’s statements, saying people with basic intellect and constitutional knowledge would not make such claims. “Until yesterday, they spoke about three capitals. Now they say the Constitution does not even mention the word ‘capital’,” he remarked.

Questioning the opposition’s arguments, the Chief Minister asked whether any leader could declare their hometown as the capital simply by sitting there. “If someone sits in Idupulapaya or Bengaluru, does it automatically become the capital?” he asked. He accused the opposition of spreading poisonous propaganda to undermine Amaravati, particularly by claiming it is unsafe because it is located along the river.

Countering these claims, Chandrababu Naidu pointed out that several major global cities such as Delhi, London, Chennai, and Mumbai are located near rivers. He questioned whether critics lacked even basic geographical understanding and said such statements only exposed their political immaturity.

On the Polavaram project, the Chief Minister reiterated that it would be completed by March 2027 and dedicated to the nation. He blamed previous rulers for the damage caused to projects during floods due to negligence. Chandrababu Naidu stated that nearly 3,000 TMC of water flows into the sea every year, and even if 200 TMC is utilised, it would not cause any loss. He cited the Dowleswaram Barrage, built during the British era, saying it is still admired today and reflects India’s rich engineering tradition.

Reaffirming his commitment to completing Polavaram, Chandrababu Naidu said the project would stand as a historic achievement and a symbol of sacrifice and development for Andhra Pradesh.
