Google to Set Up First Safety Engineering Centre in Hyderabad
Google Establishes GSEC in Hyderabad
Google is making a major move by setting up its first Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad. This will be India’s first GSEC, and the second in the Asia-Pacific region, following Tokyo. Globally, it will be the fifth such centre, joining others in Dublin, Munich, and Malaga.
Google Strategic Partnership with Telangana
The Telangana government recently signed an agreement with Google LLC, marking a significant milestone for the state. This partnership underscores Hyderabad’s growing role as a key player in global IT and cybersecurity. The city already hosts major companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon, making it the perfect location for this initiative.
A Hub for Cybersecurity Innovation
The GSEC will serve as a hub for cutting-edge research and AI-driven security solutions. It will provide a collaborative platform for cybersecurity experts and researchers. The centre aims to develop advanced security products tailored to India’s digital needs. Additionally, it will focus on skill development and boost employment, helping strengthen India’s cybersecurity landscape.
Hyderabad’s Role in Digital Safety
Hyderabad’s selection as the GSEC location highlights its importance as a global centre for digital innovation. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed pride in this partnership, noting that it further solidifies the state’s leadership in the IT and ITES sectors. With GSEC, Hyderabad is set to play a pivotal role in global cybersecurity, addressing both national and international needs.
Future Collaborations
This partnership is just the beginning. Google’s Vice President of Engineering, Royal Hansen, emphasized that Hyderabad has the potential to become the global hub for safety engineering. Google is also exploring additional partnerships with Telangana, such as setting up India’s first Google-powered Intelligent Traffic Management System.
