Vijayawada Airport Leads the Cargo Growth
🚀 Vijayawada International Airport has emerged as the fastest-growing airport in Andhra Pradesh. In December 2024, it handled an impressive 1,40,625 passengers, reflecting a 47% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
📈 The April-December 2024 period saw the airport serve 9,99,555 passengers, marking a 23.9% year-over-year (YoY) growth.
🏆 With this steady performance, Vijayawada Airport has secured the 35th rank, its best-ever position in India’s national airport rankings. The airport’s expansion plans, additional flight routes, and better facilities have played a crucial role in achieving this milestone.
Vizag, Tirupati & Rajahmundry Airports Show Strong Performance
🛫 Vizag International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the state, recorded 2,75,694 passengers in December 2024, marking a 25.7% YoY increase. This growth secured Vizag Airport the 26th rank nationally.
✈️ Tirupati Airport, known for its spiritual tourism, witnessed a remarkable 44% rise in passenger traffic, serving 1,02,739 passengers in December 2024. It secured the 45th rank in the list. The airport is expected to see further growth as the government promotes spiritual tourism in Andhra Pradesh.
🛩️ Rajahmundry Airport, another key regional airport, handled 51,332 passengers in December 2024. Despite being a smaller airport, it managed to secure the 53rd rank, reflecting a consistent rise in air travel demand in the region.
