YCP’s Electoral Claims: We Would Easily Win 130-140 Seats Now

The YSR Congress Party (YCP) is still grappling with the recent election results, as its leaders continue to raise concerns about the voting process. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his team have claimed that electoral claims (EVMs) were tampered with and have called for the use of paper ballots instead. This ongoing narrative has sparked significant debate in Andhra Pradesh.

Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy’s Big Electoral Claims

Former YCP MLA Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy made a bold statement recently, asserting that YCP would win 130-140 MLA seats if elections were held today. He strongly implied that the 2024 elections were manipulated, with vested interests tampering with the EVMs.

“There are forces behind the EVMs,” Rachamallu claimed. “In Andhra Pradesh, the public didn’t give their mandate. Instead, political forces managed and fabricated the results.”

He further added, “If the elections were conducted using paper ballots, YCP would easily win 130-140 seats.”

Criticism of YCP’s Stand on Electoral Claims

Despite their claims, YCP is being criticized for their stance on EVM tampering, especially since they won 151 seats in the 2019 elections with the same machines. Critics argue that it seems inconsistent to claim foul play with EVMs only after losing. However, the party leadership remains focused on this argument, believing the 2024 election results were unfairly influenced.

Public Perception and YCP’s Strategy

The YCP’s ongoing focus on EVM manipulation is seen as an effort to create a narrative of unjust defeat. This strategy seems intended to rally the party’s supporters by painting themselves as victims of electoral fraud. However, this approach has led to accusations that YCP is unwilling to accept the public mandate and move forward.

The EVM Debate

The broader discussion of EVMs vs. paper ballots has become a hot topic in Andhra Pradesh. Many political analysts question the YCP’s sudden distrust of EVMs, given their previous success with the same system. For the party to rebuild trust and credibility, a shift in strategy might be necessary, focusing less on claims of tampering and more on addressing the reasons behind their loss in 2024.
