YCP Sticks to EVM Theory Even After 300 Days
YCP Still Clings to EVM Theory Allegations
It has been almost 300 days since the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections, yet the YSR Congress Party (YCP) remains fixated on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM Theory) as the cause of its defeat. Instead of analyzing the reasons behind their electoral downfall, the party continues to claim that the polls were rigged through EVM manipulation.
The latest example of this mindset comes from ex-MLA Thopudurthi Prakash Reddy, who recently made a controversial statement regarding Paritala Sunitha’s victory in the Raptadu constituency.
Prakash Reddy’s Controversial Remarks on EVM Theory
Speaking to the media, Prakash Reddy alleged that Sunitha’s victory had nothing to do with public support but was instead the result of EVM manipulation.
“The only reason why Sunitha won the election last year is due to EVMs. That is why she is not stepping out in public, as she does not value the common people. She believes she doesn’t need public support since she has enough money to buy EVMs.”
This bold claim has sparked political reactions, as critics argue that YCP’s continuous blame on EVMs is an attempt to avoid facing the real reasons behind their defeat.
Ignoring the People’s Mandate?
Many political observers believe that YCP’s refusal to accept the people’s mandate is doing the party more harm than good. Instead of self-reflection, the party is taking the easy route by blaming external factors.
TDP Supporters Call Out the Hypocrisy
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supporters have strongly criticized YCP’s stance, pointing out a major contradiction in their argument.
- YCP won the 2019 elections using the very same EVMs—yet they had no objections back then.
- The Raptadu constituency has historically been a stronghold of Paritala Sunitha’s family, making her victory a natural outcome rather than a surprise.
Will YCP Change Its Narrative?
With the 2029 elections still far away, political analysts suggest that YCP must shift its focus toward rebuilding its party image rather than clinging to conspiracy theories.
If YCP continues to ignore voter sentiment and blame EVMs, they risk further alienating their support base and weakening their position in Andhra Pradesh politics.
