Why Only Two YCP Leaders Defend the Party Post-Election Loss?

In its five years of power, the YSR Congress Party (YCP) had a surplus of fiery and media-savvy leaders. Names like Roja, Kodali Nani, Anil Kumar Yadav, and Ambati Rambabu often dominated the political discourse, launching sharp verbal attacks on the opposition but now all the leaders are silent after loosing the post-election.

Disappearance of YCP Firebrands Post-Election Loss

However, after YCP lost power in the last elections, many of these firebrand leaders seem to have gone missing. The party faced a glaring lack of defense, even during critical times like the recent Vijayawada floods. The opposition and government officials slammed YCP for mismanagement and failure to address water project issues, especially with the Budameru project, which led to widespread flooding in the city.

In the past, YCP had leaders like Vellampalli Srinivas and Malladi Vishnu, who were known for their vocal support of the party. But during the flood crisis, these leaders, who could have defended the party, remained silent. Surprisingly, even prominent leaders like Kodali Nani and Roja, who were highly aggressive during YCP’s reign, have stayed away from media confrontations.

Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Call to Defend YCP

This silence has raised many questions about the party’s internal dynamics. Sources suggest that several YCP leaders feel abandoned by the party leadership, particularly during their time in power. As a result, they are now unwilling to stand by the party when it faces criticism, opting for a “touch-me-not” approach. This could be a key reason behind YCP’s current struggles in defending itself in the public sphere.

YCP’s Future in Crisis?

The absence of vocal support from most YCP leaders has put the party in a difficult position, especially when compared to its earlier days when it had a formidable presence in media debates. The continued silence of these firebrands could further weaken the party’s standing in the public eye, leaving only Ambati Rambabu and Perni Nani to carry the burden of defense.
