Telangana Talli Statue: A Grand Unveiling on December 9
The much-anticipated Telangana Talli statue, symbolizing the spirit of Telangana’s struggle and cultural heritage, set to unveiled on December 9. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate the statue at the Secretariat premises in a grand ceremony attended by thousands.
Design and Symbolism of Telangana Talli
Crafted under the expertise of Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) professor Gangadhar, the 20-foot bronze statue was sculpted by architect Ramana Reddy’s team. With an investment of ₹5.30 crore, the statue reflects the cultural essence and resilience of Telangana.
The statue’s intricate design includes:
- Attire: Telangana Talli wears a green saree, adorned with red and green bangles, anklets, gold earrings, a nose ring, and three traditional necklaces.
- Posture: She holds maize, pearl millet, and paddy plants in her left hand, symbolizing Telangana’s agrarian roots, while her right hand displays the Abhaya Mudra, signifying protection and reassurance.
- Details: A red saffron dot on her forehead highlights strength and pride.
The design aims to reflect the appearance of an average Telangana woman, representing the collective spirit and cultural richness of the state.
Grand Celebration and Collective Strength
The Congress-led government has emphasized the importance of preserving and showcasing Telangana’s heritage through this initiative. To mark the unveiling, one lakh women will attend the event, representing unity and empowerment.
Invitations have extended to several prominent figures, including:

- Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay
- Telangana activists, intellectuals, and scholars
Additionally, there is speculation that Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi might grace the occasion as a special guest.
