Telangana Budget 2025-26: A Roadmap for Growth & Welfare

The Telangana Assembly sessions are in full swing, and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has presented the state budget for 2025-26.

This year’s budget stands at ₹3,04,965 crore, aiming to balance welfare initiatives, infrastructure development, and economic growth. The breakdown is as follows:

Revenue expenditure – ₹2,26,982 crore
Capital expenditure – ₹36,504 crore

While presenting the budget, Bhatti Vikramarka stated:

“The people of Telangana have entrusted us with governance, and we are committed to fulfilling their aspirations. Our primary goal is to revive the economy, which was severely affected under the previous administration. Despite criticisms from certain quarters, we remain dedicated to our mission of social welfare and development.”

The budget reflects a strategic approach to address agricultural growth, rural development, urban infrastructure, and welfare schemes.


Key Focus Areas of Telangana Budget 2025-26

1. Rural Development & Agriculture 🌾

Panchayat Raj Department receives ₹31,605 crore for strengthening rural governance, roads, and water supply.
Agriculture Department gets ₹24,439 crore to support farmers, irrigation projects, and subsidies for agricultural inputs.

2. Education & Skill Development 🎓

Education sector has been allocated ₹23,108 crore, focusing on:

  • Strengthening government schools and colleges
  • Scholarships for students from SC, ST, BC, and minority communities
  • Infrastructure upgrades in public universities

3. Women & Child Welfare 👩‍👧

₹2,862 crore allocated for nutrition programs, child protection policies, and self-help groups for women empowerment.

Civil Supplies Department receives ₹5,734 crore to ensure food security and essential commodities supply.
Labour Department gets ₹900 crore to support employment schemes and social security for workers.


Welfare Scheme-Wise Allocations

The Telangana government continues to prioritize social equity with major allocations:

SC Welfare – ₹40,232 crore for housing, education, and employment support.
ST Welfare – ₹17,169 crore for tribal development projects and financial aid programs.
BC Welfare – ₹11,405 crore to support small businesses and education.
Handloom Sector – ₹371 crore for weavers’ welfare and subsidies.
Minority Welfare – ₹3,591 crore to support education, employment, and entrepreneurship in minority communities.


Industries & Infrastructure Development

Apart from welfare, the budget also focuses on industrial growth and technological advancement:

Industries Department – ₹3,527 crore allocated to boost manufacturing, MSMEs, and industrial hubs.
IT Sector – ₹774 crore dedicated to digital infrastructure, IT parks, and skill development in emerging technologies.

The government aims to attract new investments, promote startups, and strengthen Telangana’s position as an IT and industrial hub.


Telangana’s Economic Revival Plan

Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that the government is working on revitalizing the economy by:

Enhancing investment opportunities in agriculture, industries, and services.
Creating employment through MSMEs and startup incentives.
Developing urban and rural infrastructure to improve connectivity and public services.
