Teenmaar Mallanna has risen from a popular YouTuber to a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) and a self-proclaimed leader of the BC community in Telangana. His strong anti-KCR stance has given him a significant platform in state politics, and he is making the most of it.
However, after securing the MLC position through the Congress Party, Mallanna has taken a controversial path, stirring tensions within the party.
Burning the Caste Census – A Bold Move
In a shocking act of defiance, Mallanna publicly burned the caste census document prepared by the Telangana government. He claimed that the statistics in the report did not truly represent the BC community in the state.
This move sparked outrage within the Congress Party, as the caste census was considered a flagship initiative. The party high command reacted swiftly, issuing a showcause notice to Mallanna for his actions.
However, Mallanna remains unshaken by the disciplinary action. He has openly dismissed the notice, arguing that his actions align with Congress’s central leadership, particularly Rahul Gandhi’s vision.

“Our central leadership, led by Rahul Gandhi, called for a fair caste census. But our state leadership failed to follow these principles and instead produced a namesake document. This isn’t a true caste census—it’s more like a Jana Reddy document. That’s why I burned it. My loyalty is to Rahul Gandhi, not anyone else,” Mallanna stated.
Mallanna further escalated the issue by declaring that the Congress notice was not just about him but an attack on the entire BC community. He presented himself as the voice of BCs in Telangana and warned the party leadership to tread carefully.
A Growing Challenge for Congress
By framing the showcause notice as a BC community issue, Mallanna has successfully shifted the narrative. His strategic dissent has put the Telangana Congress leadership in a tough spot, forcing them to reconsider their approach toward him.
