Roja Responds: “We Didn’t Do Anything Wrong”
Post-Election Reactions from YSR Congress Leaders
It has been three months since the electoral results shook Andhra Pradesh, with the YSR Congress Party (YCP) still grappling with the defeat. One of the most vocal and influential leaders, Roja, former MLA of Nagari and a firebrand leader, has expressed shock over the magnitude of the loss. She, along with several YCP leaders, seems unable to digest the electoral mandate, which resulted in an unexpected defeat for the party.
Roja Disbelief Over the Results
In her recent statement, Roja voiced her confusion and disbelief about the election’s outcome. “We didn’t do anything wrong to lose by such a margin,” she said, reflecting on the party’s performance and its significant loss. Her words, “Odipoyentha thappu memu emi cheyaledu,” underline her belief that the YCP’s efforts and governance did not warrant such a result.
Roja emphasized that the election results were akin to a “tsunami” for the party, leaving them stunned. “We are shocked by the magnitude of the result that was completely against us. But I can confidently say we didn’t deliver such poor performance to deserve this result,” Roja stated. She further highlighted that YCP maintained a pro-welfare approach, putting the people’s interests first throughout their tenure.
Roja: Doubts Over Election Integrity
Adding to her disbelief, Roja hinted at possible foul play during the election, questioning the authenticity of the public mandate. She voiced suspicions about the process, suggesting that the truth behind the results would eventually come to light. “I don’t believe this is the public’s mandate. The real truth will come out slowly but surely,” Roja said, implying that there may have been irregularities affecting the outcome.
Party Leadership Still in Denial
Roja’s comments reflect a larger sentiment within the YSR Congress Party leadership, which includes Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. Many top leaders of the party have struggled to come to terms with the loss, prolonging their period of denial. Instead of addressing the reasons behind their defeat and implementing corrective measures, the leadership appears to be focusing on external factors.
The longer the YCP remains in this state of denial, the more it will impact their efforts to rebuild and strengthen the party. While leaders like Roja express their disbelief, it is essential for the party to introspect and focus on the future to regain its footing.
