In the early hours of Sunday, Cyberabad’s Special Operation Team (SOT) carried out a surprise raid on a farmhouse located in Janwada. Raj Pakala’s farmhouse, brother-in-law of Telangana’s BRS working president and former IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), was reportedly hosting a party without the necessary permits. Sources indicate that the raid was initiated based on a tip-off about potential violations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Unlicensed Alcohol and Positive Drug Test in Raj Pakala’s Farmhouse
During the raid, officers observed that over 30 individuals were in attendance. Authorities discovered excessive quantities of foreign liquor, far above the permissible limit. The officials administered drug tests on all participants, and one individual allegedly tested positive for cocaine, sparking further investigation.
The SOT seized seven unauthorized bottles of foreign alcohol, amounting to 10.5 liters, alongside 10 bottles of Indian-made liquor. Officials also noted that the organizers lacked the required licenses to serve liquor at a private event, leading to additional charges under the excise regulations.
Case Registered Against Raj Pakala
Following the findings, the Cyberabad Police have filed cases against Raj Pakala for violating excise norms. The excise department plans to press further charges for hoarding excessive liquor and serving alcohol without proper authorization. Allegations also surfaced that some high-profile individuals were present at the event, although no names have been disclosed by authorities.
BJP Calls for Transparency and Investigation
Following the incident, prominent leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Raghunandan Rao, criticized the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Congress party. They accused Congress of protecting the KCR family’s interests and shielding those involved in the incident. BJP leaders demanded that an impartial probe be conducted, with transparency ensured by publicly releasing CCTV footage from the farmhouse.
