Political Status: KTR and Revanth Clash Over Rajiv Gandhi Statue

Revanth Reddy Unveils Rajiv Gandhi Statue

Revanth Reddy, the leader of Telangana Congress, inaugurated a Rajiv Gandhi statue at the Ambedkar Secretariat yesterday. This ceremony, however, led to a political confrontation with BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), who expressed strong disapproval of the statue’s placement.

KTR Criticizes the Move of Rajiv Gandhi Statue

KTR voiced his displeasure, stating that the location was initially meant for the Telangana Thalli statue, a symbol of the state’s identity. He accused Revanth Reddy of dishonoring Telangana’s heritage by installing Rajiv Gandhi’s statue instead.

KTR remarked, “The sacred spot in front of the Ambedkar Secretariat was reserved for the Telangana Thalli statue. Revanth Reddy’s decision to place Rajiv Gandhi’s statue here is an insult to Telangana’s people. When BRS returns to power, this statue will be moved to Gandhi Bhavan or Revanth Reddy’s house.”

Revanth Reddy Fires Back

Not one to back down, Revanth Reddy hit back at KTR. He emphasized Rajiv Gandhi’s contributions to India’s IT sector, noting that the late Prime Minister paved the way for the technological advancements the country enjoys today.

Revanth responded, “Rajiv Gandhi’s vision created India’s IT revolution. KTR wouldn’t be the IT Minister today if it weren’t for Rajiv Gandhi’s foresight. Without that, KTR might be selling idly and vada in Guntur or Siddipet instead of tweeting his grievances.”

Escalating Political Tension

The rivalry between Revanth Reddy and KTR continues to intensify as the Telangana elections approach. The controversy over the statue symbolizes a broader political battle between the Congress and the BRS. Both parties are positioning themselves as champions of the state’s future.

The dispute highlights the deeper issues at play: cultural representation and political dominance. As BRS fights to protect Telangana’s identity, Revanth Reddy emphasizes development and progress, particularly in sectors like IT.

What’s Next?

This incident could have a lasting impact on the political climate in Telangana. The confrontation between these two leaders highlights the intense competition as they prepare for the upcoming elections. With both sides refusing to back down, the statue has become a symbol of a larger political battle.
