Pithapuram: Wicket Down From Senior Leader Joins Janasena
YCP Faces Another Setback in Pithapuram
The Pithapuram assembly constituency remains a focal point in Andhra Pradesh politics, especially since it is now represented by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. In a fresh blow to the YSR Congress Party (YCP), senior leader Pendem Dorababu has parted ways with the party and aligned with Janasena.
Pendem Dorababu’s History with YCP
Dorababu has been associated with Jagan Mohan Reddy since the 2014 elections and played a crucial role in YCP’s victory in 2019, defeating SVSN Varma. However, his loyalty was overlooked when Jagan denied him a ticket for the 2024 elections, instead favoring Vanga Geetha.
Jagan believed that Vanga Geetha was a better choice to challenge Pawan Kalyan, sidelining Dorababu in the process. Despite his disappointment, Dorababu was convinced to support YCP in the 2024 elections. The party attempted to defeat Pawan Kalyan at any cost. However, this strategy failed miserably, as Kalyan secured a landslide victory with a margin of over 70,000 votes.
Dorababu Joins Janasena, Strengthening Pawan Kalyan’s Hold
Feeling used and abandoned by YCP, Dorababu has now made a significant political move. He visited the Janasena party headquarters today and met Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. Expressing his interest in joining Janasena, Dorababu’s inclusion was swiftly approved, as announced by Janasena’s social media team.
This marks yet another major loss for YCP in Pithapuram, further weakening the party in a region where Pawan Kalyan is consolidating his influence. Dorababu’s addition is expected to fortify Janasena’s presence while simultaneously deepening the crisis within YCP.
Conclusion: YCP Continues to Lose Ground in Pithapuram
With every key defection, YSR Congress is struggling to maintain its footing in Pithapuram. Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s leadership and growing support in the region continue to strengthen Janasena’s position. The latest setback for YCP underscores Jagan’s miscalculations, which are now costing the party dearly.
