Peddireddy’s Farmhouse on Forest Land: CM Orders Investigation

Peddireddy’s Farmhouse in Forest Land: CM Orders Investigation!

Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, a prominent figure in the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YCP), has found himself embroiled in controversy following reports of illegal land occupation. The former Panchayat Raj minister during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure in Andhra Pradesh has long been a dominant political figure in the Chittoor district. However, his name has now surfaced in allegations of land grabs—both private and government-owned lands Peddireddy’s Farmhouse .

Peddireddy’s Farmhouse: The Alleged Forest Land Grab

According to an Eenadu expose, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has allegedly constructed a lavish estate in the heart of Mangalampet Reserve Forest. What makes this even more shocking is that the land on which the estate was built is registered as part of the reserve forest, under the jurisdiction of the Forest Department.

There is no other private land in the reserve forest area, apart from the land reportedly occupied by Peddireddy. Survey numbers 295 and 296 have been registered in his name, with the total land area amounting to 23.69 acres and 75.75 acres, respectively.

Building a Farmhouse and Road in a Protected Area

Not only did Peddireddy manage to secure these forest lands, but he also reportedly commissioned a road leading to the lavish farmhouse built in the reserve forest area. The establishment of this road has obstructed a critical wildlife route, disrupting the natural movement of several animals that once traversed the area. This intervention in a protected area has raised concerns over its impact on the local wildlife.

The Investigation into the Illegal Occupation

The Forest Department soon uncovered the extent of the illegal occupation by Peddireddy. Upon learning about this, Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was immediately notified. The CM took swift action and formed a subcommittee to investigate the matter further.

The subcommittee includes several senior officials from Chittoor, including Chittoor Collector Sumit, District SP Manikanta Chandolu, and Forest Officer Yashoda Bai. Their task is to examine the nature of this illegal occupation and investigate how it permitted in the first place.

Peddireddy’s Political Influence

Despite the serious allegations against him, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy remains a key player in YCP politics. As the Pungunur MLA, he considered one of the most influential MLAs in the party, second only to Jagan Mohan Reddy in terms of party ranking within the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

The ongoing investigation into his alleged illegal actions could have significant implications for his political future and the internal dynamics of the YCP. If the allegations proven true, it could cause a major shake-up within the ruling party.
