Pawan Kalyan Expresses Anguish Over Illegal Rice Exports
Illegal Rice Exports Continue at Kakinada Port
The illegal export of rice from the Kakinada port, a longstanding issue, has resurfaced, drawing the ire of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The rice exports, intended for Andhra Pradesh civil supplies, has been allegedly smuggled out, raising serious concerns about governance. This practice, initially tied to former MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy during the YCP regime, has persisted even under the NDA government’s tenure.
Pawan Kalyan’s Vow to Take Stern Action
In his role as an opposition leader, Pawan Kalyan had previously pledged to tackle the illegal activities at Kakinada port. However, during a recent inspection, the Deputy CM was disheartened to find that these smuggling operations still continue. His visit came in the wake of the Kakinada district collector seizing 640 tonnes of rice intended for illegal export.
Deputy CM Confronts Kakinada MLA on Illegal Rice Exports
Pawan Kalyan did not mince words during his inspection. He publicly reprimanded Kakinada TDP MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao for the lack of action against these activities. “We fought against Dwarampudi and his network to end this smuggling. But now, under the NDA government, this illegal activity continues. Where the promised corrective measures?” questioned an irate Pawan.
Tough Stance on Officials
Pawan Kalyan also called out port authorities for their negligence. Addressing Port Officer Dharma Sastry, DSP Raghuveer, and Civil Supplies Officer Prasad, he expressed his disappointment in their handling of the issue. The Deputy CM emphasized the seriousness of the matter and warned of severe consequences if immediate actions were not taken.
Steps Toward Resolution
With Pawan Kalyan directly intervening, there is a strong possibility of decisive action against illegal rice exports. The Deputy CM’s direct involvement underscores the NDA government’s commitment to eliminating corrupt practices at the Kakinada port. This situation places immense pressure on local officials and the TDP MLA to rectify the issue promptly.
A Call for Accountability
The Kakinada port has long marred by such unlawful activities. It is now up to the NDA government to uphold its promises and restore accountability. Pawan Kalyan’s proactive approach may well set the stage for a stricter crackdown on such operations, ensuring that public resources serve their intended purpose.
