Paritala Ravi Murder Case: High Court Grants Bail to Accused

High Court Grants Bail in Paritala Ravi Murder Case

The murder of former TDP MLA Paritala Ravi in 2005 remains a pivotal event in Telugu state politics. Nearly 19 years later, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted bail to five individuals accused of involvement in the crime.

The Accused of Paritala Ravi Murder Case

The court approved bail for the following individuals:

  • Narayana Reddy (A3)
  • V Rekhamaiah (A4)
  • Bhajana Ranganayakulu (A5)
  • A Kondaiah (A6)
  • Medimi Obi Reddy (A8)

These individuals were allegedly associated with Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy, also known as Maddelacheruvu Suri. Suri was himself killed in a separate incident several years ago.

Court’s Conditions

While granting bail, the High Court laid out strict conditions:

  1. The accused must report to the jurisdictional police station every Monday.
  2. The court warned that bail would be revoked immediately if they engaged in further criminal activities.

Background of the Case

Paritala Ravi was a firebrand leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). On January 24, 2005, he was shot dead in broad daylight outside the TDP office in Penukonda, Anantapur district. This assassination created political upheaval and led to an intense investigation.

The accused, including Narayana Reddy and Rekhamaiah, identified as key players in the murder. Their alleged connection to Maddelacheruvu Suri further added complexity to the case.

Recent Developments

The recent bail approval comes after years of legal proceedings. The court’s conditions aim to monitor the accused closely and prevent any future violations.

Conclusion

This development is a significant milestone in one of Andhra Pradesh’s most controversial cases. While the accused have secured bail, the case remains a grim reminder of the political turbulence in Telugu states during the mid-2000s.
