NTR District Tops AP Liquor License Applications Amid New Policy

AP Liquor License Process Brings Record Revenue

The government of Andhra Pradesh has successfully completed the liquor license issuance for the state’s 3,396 liquor outlets Majority from NTR District. This process has generated a remarkable Rs 1,797.64 crore in revenue. Each liquor license tender cost Rs 2 lakh, and on average, 25-26 tenders were filed for each outlet.


NTR District Tops the List

The NTR district stood out with the highest number of applications for liquor licenses. It received 5,800 tenders for its 113 liquor outlets, making it the top-performing district in terms of tenders filed. Each shop in district received an average of over 50 tenders, indicating a highly competitive process.


Massive Response Despite Initial Slump From NTR District

Initially, the tender process saw a slow start. However, after Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu warned syndicate operators to avoid participating, there was a significant increase in applications. Furthermore, applications poured in from foreign countries as well, adding to the immense response.


Upcoming Lottery and Policy Implementation

The Excise Department will now hold a lottery on October 14 to finalize the license holders. The actual issuance of contracts will happen on October 15, and the new liquor policy will come into effect from October 16.
