New Liquor Policy Launches in AP: Quality Liquor at Lower Prices
Andhra Pradesh’s New Liquor Policy Takes Effect
Andhra Pradesh’s much-anticipated new liquor policy has officially started on October 16. This shift, led by the NDA government, introduces privatized liquor shops throughout the state. The new policy focuses on providing quality liquor brands while promoting digital payments for added transparency. Unlike the previous YSR Congress Party (YCP) regime, which operated with a cash-only system, this new approach ensures smoother, more reliable transactions.
Privatization and New Licenses
With the new policy in place, 3396 liquor outlets have opened across Andhra Pradesh. This follows the shutdown of the former government-run shops last night at 10 PM. New license holders contributed Rs 330 crore in the first installment to the state as part of the liquor licensing process. The privatization aims to enhance efficiency and improve customer satisfaction through quality service and products.
Emphasis on Quality and Safety
One of the key aspects of the new policy is its commitment to selling only top-choice, unadulterated liquor brands. Consumers can now enjoy premium products, knowing that quality is being strictly monitored. Additionally, the popular Rs 99 liquor bottles will return to shelves within a few days, offering consumers affordable, high-quality options.
Furthermore, liquor stocks worth Rs 350-400 crore have already been acquired from the state beverages corporation. Each financial transaction is being carefully tracked, eliminating the suspicious practices that were widespread during the previous YCP government.
Reduced Taxes for Lower Prices
The NDA government has also reduced the tax burden on liquor sales. The previous YCP government had imposed 10 different types of taxes, but now, only 6 tax categories remain. This change is expected to lower prices significantly, making quality liquor more accessible. Additionally, a 2% tax has been added to the landing costs of liquor products, which will fund alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs.
Digital Payments for a Seamless Experience
Another significant shift with this new policy is the introduction of digital payments in all liquor shops. Unlike the earlier cash-only system, digital transactions are now encouraged. This change promotes transparency, reduces the chances of financial misconduct, and offers a safer, more convenient experience for consumers.
The Future of Liquor Sales in AP With New Liquor Policy
With the launch of this new liquor policy, Andhra Pradesh is seeing a major transformation in liquor sales. The government’s emphasis on quality, transparency, and affordability sets the stage for a positive shift in consumer experience. Lower prices and improved products, combined with a more efficient system, mark the beginning of a new era for the liquor market in the state.
