Telugu Ayyappa Devotees in Trouble in Kerala
A group of Telugu Ayyappa devotees from Goduguchinta village in Vedurukuppam Mandal, Nellore Constituency, faced unexpected challenges during their pilgrimage to Sabarimala in Kerala. The devotees met with a road accident en route and were detained by the Kerala police despite not being at fault.
Stranded and distressed, the group released a video highlighting their plight, alleging a lack of cooperation from the authorities. The devotees, stuck in an unfamiliar state, appealed for help, drawing the attention of Andhra Pradesh IT and Education Minister Nara Lokesh.
Nara Lokesh Steps in to Assist Ayyappa Devotees
Upon seeing the video, Nara Lokesh acted promptly. Demonstrating his leadership and compassion, Lokesh assured the devotees that help was on the way. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“Noted. We’ll contact the Government of Kerala and bring our people back home as soon as possible.”
Lokesh immediately contacted Kerala officials to resolve the situation. His swift communication and coordination led to the release of the detained Ayyappa devotees. Additionally, Lokesh ensured that the Kerala police provided food and other necessities to the devotees before allowing them to continue their pilgrimage to Sabarimala.

The Telugu Ayyappa devotees expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Nara Lokesh for his timely intervention. They also thanked Nellore MLA Thomas, Tirupati Parliamentary Convenor Bheemineni Chitti Naidu. Media personnel who helped amplify their distress call.
