After reviewing the damages, the government decided to provide financial assistance to those severely impacted. This initiative will support both families and small businesses that suffered from the flood.
Relief Package Distribution Starting September 17th
The distribution of financial aid will begin on September 17th. According to government estimates, over 2 lakh houses were submerged, and more than 2 lakh hectares of crops were damaged. The relief efforts aim to support these victims swiftly and efficiently.
Relief Package Aid for Damaged Homes and Businesses
Families living in flood-affected ground-floor homes in Vijayawada will receive Rs 25,000. Those living on higher floors will be given Rs 10,000. This will help them recover from the destruction. Additionally, small businesses, such as kirana stores, will receive Rs 25,000 to compensate for their losses.
Statewide Support for Flood Victims
For other areas in Andhra Pradesh, each flood-affected household will receive Rs 10,000. This will provide immediate assistance to families so they can begin rebuilding their lives. The government remains focused on reaching those in the most need.
Contributions Pour In for Flood Relief
During his announcement, Naidu praised the generosity of the public. So far, contributions worth Rs 300 crore have been received. An additional Rs 150 crore is expected to be collected soon. These funds will further strengthen the flood recovery efforts.
Relief Targeting Tenants Only
Naidu made it clear that the relief package is specifically for tenants whose homes were submerged in the floods. Property owners will need to claim insurance for their house damages, ensuring that tenants receive immediate support for their losses.
