Minister N Manohar Alleges Illegal Rice Exports Under YSRCP

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies, N Manohar, accused former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy of turning the prestigious Kakinada Port into a hub for smuggling. The minister alleged that illegal rice exports worth Rs 48,537 crore, amounting to over 1.3 crore metric tonnes, routed through Kakinada Port during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s tenure.

Manohar labeled the previous regime’s actions as a “rice mafia” operation that tarnished the reputation of Kakinada Port. He highlighted the alarming scale of these exports and their detrimental impact on the state.

Illegal Rice Exports: A Rs 48,537 Crore Scandal

The Minister revealed that in just three fiscal years, a staggering Rs 48,537 crore worth of rice smuggled from the Kakinada Port. Manohar alleged that a network spanning from Chittoor to Srikakulam was established to profit from the illegal trade. He claimed green channels used to facilitate the seamless transportation of rice to the port.

Manohar further noted that African countries the primary destinations for the illegally exported rice. He emphasized that no other port in the country recorded such high volumes of rice smuggling. Making Kakinada Port a glaring example of mismanagement under the YSRCP government.

N Manohar: NDA’s Efforts to Dismantle the Rice Mafia

The minister praised the current NDA-led government for its efforts to dismantle the rice mafia in Andhra Pradesh. He assured the public that no powerful individual involved in the illegal operations would be spared.

Manohar reiterated the state’s commitment to curbing smuggling activities and restoring the integrity of Kakinada Port. He appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to recognize the scale of the malpractice and support efforts to bring the culprits to justice.

YSRCP Remains Silent

Despite the severity of the allegations, the YSR Congress Party has yet to issue an official response. The accusations have drawn widespread attention, with calls for accountability and transparency in addressing the alleged malpractices.
