MLC Kavitha Urges BJP to Take a Stand on BC Caste Census
MLC Kavitha Demands BJP’s Stance on BC Caste Census, Criticizes Congress for Unfulfilled Promises
Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kavitha has urged the BJP to clarify its position on the Backward Classes (BC) caste census in Telangana. She also criticized the Congress government for failing to fulfill its promises to the BC community under the Kamareddy BC Declaration.
MLC Kavitha Criticizes Congress for Neglecting BC Welfare
During a meeting with Telangana Kummari Sangam representatives on Thursday, Kavitha spoke about the struggles faced by people dependent on caste-based occupations for their livelihood. She accused the Congress government of ignoring their welfare and failing to act on several promises.
She specifically mentioned the delay in implementing 42 percent reservations for BCs in local body elections and the failure to honor the Kamareddy Declaration.
Kavitha Questions BJP’s Silence
Kavitha also criticized the BJP for its silence on the issues facing the BC community. She asked why the BJP had not pressured the Congress government to fulfill its commitments to BCs.
“Does the BJP not care about BC representation?” she questioned. “If they truly support BCs, they must take action and demand that Congress fulfill its promises.”
Call for National Caste Census
Kavitha called on the central government to legislate a national caste census to ensure better representation and support for BCs across the country. She argued that the lack of action from the Centre showed a lack of commitment to the welfare of BC communities.
“If the Centre truly cares for BCs, it must act now,” Kavitha urged. “Their inaction harms the community.”
Support from BC Organizations
The meeting was attended by leaders from several BC organizations, including the United Phule Front and Telangana Salivahana Sangh. They echoed Kavitha’s concerns about the unfulfilled promises and lack of progress in supporting BC communities.
