Madras High Court Orders FSSAI to Reissue Notice to AR Dairy

The Madras High Court has stepped in regarding the controversy about ghee used for making Tirumala Tirupati laddus. The court ordered the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to give AR Dairy more time to respond to accusations of supplying adulterated ghee.

Madras: New Directive to FSSAI

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court asked the FSSAI to issue a fresh notice to AR Dairy Food. This notice will give the company additional time to address claims that it sent poor-quality ghee for making laddus at the Tirupati temple. The decision came after G. Kannan, representing AR Dairy, said the original notice did not provide enough time for a proper reply.

Allegations of Adulterated Ghee

There are concerns that the ghee, possibly mixed with animal fats, was used to make laddus at the famous Tirumala temple. The allegations have alarmed many devotees, as the laddus are a key part of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) offerings.

The Supreme Court has already asked the CBI to investigate these claims. This thorough investigation aims to find the truth behind the ghee quality issue.

AR Dairy’s Response to Madras High Court

After the court’s order, AR Dairy now has more time to explain its side. The company must provide a detailed response to the FSSAI to help with the ongoing investigation.

Conclusion: Ensuring Transparency

The Madras High Court’s decision guarantees that AR Dairy has a fair chance to respond. This step also emphasizes the importance of transparency in such high-stakes cases involving public trust and food safety.
