Madhusudhana Chary Criticizes Telangana Govt

Madhusudhana Chary Criticizes Telangana Govt for Not Convening Legislative Council to Pay Tributes to Dr. Manmohan Singh

Hyderabad: S Madhusudhana Chary, the Opposition leader in the Telangana Legislative Council, expressed strong objections on Tuesday regarding the government’s failure to convene the Legislative Council for paying tributes to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Dr. Singh passed away on December 26.

Tribute in the Legislative Assembly

On Monday, the Telangana Legislative Assembly held a special session to honor Dr. Singh. During the session, the Assembly also passed a resolution urging the Centre to award him the Bharat Ratna for his invaluable contributions to the nation.

Madhusudhana Chary Concerns in His Letter to CM KCR

In a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Chary raised concerns over the exclusion of the Legislative Council from the tribute session. He pointed out that Dr. Singh had served in the Rajya Sabha for many years. Given his role in the Upper House of Parliament, Chary felt it was important for the Legislative Council to also pay tribute.

Chary wrote, “The Legislative Council should have convened to honor Dr. Manmohan Singh. He served the nation and Parliament for years, and it would have been fitting for all members of the Council to participate in this tribute. I urge you to ensure that this oversight is addressed in the future.”

Why Dr. Singh Deserved a Tribute from the Council

Dr. Manmohan Singh is widely respected for his leadership and economic reforms. His long tenure in the Rajya Sabha made it all the more fitting for the Telangana Legislative Council to join the tribute efforts.

While the Legislative Assembly did honor Dr. Singh, the absence of a similar session in the Council has left many disappointed, including Chary. His objections highlight the importance of recognizing Dr. Singh’s legacy in all state legislative bodies.

Looking Ahead: The Government’s Response to Chary’s Concerns

Madhusudhana Chary’s objections have ignited discussions on the role of the Legislative Council in state functions. Many believe that the Council should have had an opportunity to pay respects to the late leader. Chary has called on the Telangana government to ensure that such omissions do not occur again.

It remains to seen how the government will respond to these objections. However, Chary’s letter underscores the need for a fair and inclusive tribute process for all leaders of national importance.
