Lulu Mall Returns to Vizag: Rejected by Jagan, Revived by Babu
Lulu Mall Comeback to Vizag
The globally renowned Lulu Group is set to establish a world-class shopping mall and convention center in Vizag. This ambitious project, which was previously canceled by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government due to land disputes and regulatory issues, has now been revived by Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Lulu Group Reconnects with Andhra Pradesh
In September 2024, Lulu Group International MD M.A. Yousuff Ali met with CM Chandrababu Naidu, expressing interest in reinitiating the Vizag project. Subsequently, in January 2025, the Lulu Group submitted an official proposal to the Andhra Pradesh government, detailing their expansion plans.

The revamped project includes:
Mega shopping mall with a world-class hypermarket
Funtura amusement park for children
Fine-dining food court with premium restaurants
8-screen IMAX multiplex for an enhanced movie experience
Large parking facility for visitors

Government Approval & Land Allocation
On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh government directed the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) to:
- Scrutinize the Lulu Group’s proposal and obtain necessary approvals.
- Fast-track permissions from concerned authorities to accelerate the project.
Additionally, the government instructed the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) to transfer 13.43 acres of land in Harbour Park, RK Beach Road, back to APIIC.
The History of Lulu Group’s Vizag Plans
Under Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP government (2014-2019), a large land parcel near RK Beach allocated for the Lulu Mall project. However, after YSRCP came to power in 2019, the project scrapped, leading the Lulu Group to shift its investment to Hyderabad instead.
Now, with Naidu back in power, the Lulu Group is once again investing in Vizag, which could bring significant economic and tourism benefits.
