KTR & Stalin Oppose Delimitation: A Fight for Southern States!

KTR and Stalin Take a Stand Against Delimitation

The Indian government’s proposal to redraw constituencies based on population has sparked widespread criticism. Many Southern leaders argue that this approach is unfair, as it does not consider the region’s contributions or efforts in population control. Now, BRS working president KTR has joined the movement, backing Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin’s stance against the Centre’s delimitation plan KTR & Stalin Oppose Delimitation.

KTR: ‘Delimitation Should Consider Fiscal Contributions’

Expressing his opposition, KTR emphasized that South Indian states should not be penalized for successfully implementing family planning policies when the country needed it most.

🔹 KTR’s key arguments:
Delimitation should not punish states that controlled population growth
Southern states contribute significantly to India’s GDP
A fair approach should consider fiscal contributions to the nation

KTR strongly stated, “If the Centre is keen on delimitation, I propose it be based on fiscal contributions. Telangana, despite having only 2.8% of India’s population, contributes over 5.2% to the GDP. Our role in nation-building cannot be ignored.”

He also pointed out that the Southern states accounted for 26.2% of India’s population in 1951, which has now dropped to 19.8% in 2022, highlighting the demographic shift.

Stalin Calls for Fair and Transparent Delimitation

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also voiced his concerns, asserting that the move would impact all of South India.

🗣 Stalin’s statement:
“Delimitation isn’t just about Tamil Nadu—it affects all of South India. A democratic process should not penalize states that have effectively managed population growth and contributed to national progress. We need a fair, transparent, and equitable approach that upholds true federalism.”

KTR & Stalin: A Growing Southern Resistance

With top Southern leaders opposing the Centre’s delimitation plan, the issue is gaining momentum. Leaders demand a more balanced and just approach that accounts for both population and economic contributions rather than solely using population numbers as a basis.

As the debate intensifies, all eyes are on the Centre’s next move and how Southern states will continue to push for fair representation in India’s democratic framework.
