KTR Opposes Changes to Telangana Thalli Statue Design
KTR Strongly Opposes Changes to Telangana Thalli Statue
BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has voiced strong opposition to any changes in the design of the Telangana Thalli statue. The statue is planned for installation at the State Secretariat on December 9. KTR specifically warned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy not to alter the design, which carries significant historical and sentimental value for the people of Telangana.
Historical Precedents for Preserving Iconic Designs
KTR emphasized that the design of state symbols should remain unchanged, regardless of political leadership. He pointed out that even former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not alter the design of the Bharat Matha statue unveiled by Indira Gandhi. Likewise, the designs of Telugu Thalli and Kannada Matha have remained the same over time.
Rama Rao urged CM Revanth Reddy not to alter the Telangana Thalli statue out of any personal animosity or to erase the legacy of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He warned that such a decision would not be forgiven by the people or history.
Restoring the Telangana Thalli Statue if BRS Wins
KTR assured that if the BRS party returns to power in the next elections, the Telangana Thalli statue will be restored to its rightful place. This would involve replacing the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Which currently stands opposite the Dr. BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat.
Promoting Telangana’s Culture and History
KTR also stressed the importance of preserving Telangana’s culture through literature, arts, and music. The BRS plans to organize an annual 11-day literary and cultural festival from November 29 to December 9. The event will take place in Hyderabad and other districts such as Warangal, Karimnagar, and Nalgonda. Committees composed of writers, poets, historians, and artists will organize the festival.
Documenting Telangana’s Legacy for Future Generations
KTR encouraged writers and poets to document Telangana’s history and the statehood movement. He emphasized the need to preserve the legacy, saying, “If lions do not document their legacy, hunters’ stories will become history.”
Honoring Telangana’s Identity Through Festivals
KTR highlighted that the BRS party has consistently prioritized Telangana’s identity over political figures. Under BRS leadership, festivals like Bathukamma and Bonalu have officially celebrated. The party has also named major irrigation projects after local deities, rather than political leaders, reflecting its commitment to honoring Telangana’s cultural heritage.
