Konda Surekha Urges AP Govt to Address Telangana Devotees
Konda Surekha Calls for Action to Support Telangana Devotees at Tirumala
Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has called on the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government to take steps to resolve the challenges faced by Telangana devotees visiting the Lord Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala. Speaking after offering prayers at the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple in Srisailam on Thursday night, the Minister emphasized the importance of addressing these concerns to improve the experience of Telangana pilgrims.
Concerns Raised Over TTD Practices
Telangana representatives and leaders have raised objections over the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) not honoring recommendation letters issued by them for facilitating darshan for Telangana devotees. The Minister noted that large numbers of Telangana pilgrims visit Tirumala, significantly contributing to Andhra Pradesh’s revenue.
While the TTD has formed a committee to address these issues, Konda Surekha urged further action, pointing out that in the past, TTD extended assistance to temples in Telangana and provided support for constructing Kalyana Mandapams (function halls). Unfortunately, this practice has not been continued.
Collaboration Between States About Telangana Devotees
Konda Surekha mentioned that the Chief Ministers of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana had discussed issues related to Tirumala pilgrims in a recent meeting, which she believes is a positive step for resolving the concerns of Telangana devotees.
The Minister also appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government to take a proactive stance by resuming support for ancient and prominent temples in Telangana. This would ensure better facilities and assistance for pilgrims while strengthening the religious bond between the states.
Reflection on Telangana’s Religious Heritage
Expressing her sentiments, Konda Surekha remarked, “It is unfortunate and our misfortune that we lost the Srisailam temple due to Andhra Pradesh bifurcation, but our faith towards Mallikarjuna Swamy remains unwavering.”
The Endowments Minister emphasized the deep-rooted faith of Telangana devotees and the importance of extending mutual support to preserve the spiritual and cultural heritage shared by both states.
Conclusion
Konda Surekha’s call for action highlights the need for collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to address the concerns of devotees visiting Tirumala and other temples. With mutual efforts, the states can ensure a seamless spiritual experience for pilgrims while fostering goodwill and cooperation.
This appeal also underscores the importance of preserving and supporting Telangana’s ancient temples, reinforcing the state’s rich religious legacy.
