Key Highlights from the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet Meeting

Important Developments from the AP Cabinet Meeting

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting in Amaravati today was packed with crucial discussions and significant decisions. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, also known as CM Babu, led the meeting and provided constructive feedback to underperforming ministers. Here are the key highlights from the session.

Deepam Program: Free Gas Cylinders for Households

One of the most noteworthy approvals was for the Deepam Program, which allocates three free gas cylinders per month for eligible households. This initiative aims to ease the financial burden on low-income families during the festive season. Beneficiaries must purchase these cylinders first. However, the government will reimburse the amount directly to their bank accounts within 48 hours of purchase. This program will launch just in time for Diwali, allowing families to celebrate without worrying about additional cooking fuel expenses.

Removal of GST and Seigniorage Fee on Sand

In a move to support the public further, the Cabinet approved the removal of Goods and Services Tax (GST) charges on ordinary sand. Additionally, the seigniorage fee, previously set at ₹40 per cubic meter for sand extraction, has been abolished. This decision will make sand available for construction at no extra cost. Consequently, it promotes affordable housing and infrastructure development across the state.

Controversial Land Allotment to Saradha Peetham

The meeting also addressed the controversial order that allotted 15 acres of land to Saradha Peetham. The Cabinet has decided to reclaim this land, as it was handed over under questionable circumstances. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to uphold transparency. It ensures that state resources are allocated appropriately and ethically.

Cabinet Meeting: A Call for Dedication and Integrity

As the meeting concluded, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized the need for dedication and integrity among his ministers. He expressed concern over the performance of some members and urged them to improve. The CM vowed to combat corruption at its roots. This commitment signals a renewed focus on accountability and good governance.

Conclusion: A Step Towards Better Governance

The decisions made in this Cabinet meeting mark a significant step toward improving the quality of life for citizens of Andhra Pradesh. With initiatives like the Deepam program and the removal of GST on sand, the government aims to provide relief to the public. Additionally, the reclamation of land and the emphasis on ministerial accountability reflect a commitment to transparent and effective governance.
