Jagan’s Furniture Controversy: High Court Case and Allegations
Jagan’s Alleged Misuse of Government Furniture
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and its leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy are under fire again. This time, the controversy is over claims that Jagan kept expensive Jagan’s furniture even after his term as Chief Minister ended. The opposition, especially the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is accusing him of using these items for personal use at his Tadepalli residence.
TDP’s Allegations: Misuse of Public Funds?
Reports suggest that the furniture, worth several crores, was funded by the government. According to the TDP, Jagan used these items at his camp office-cum-residence. They even labeled him a “Furniture Thief” for allegedly keeping state property for party purposes. This criticism comes as the TDP seeks to highlight how public money was supposedly misused.
YSRCP’s Response: Willing to Pay for the Jagan’s Furniture
In defense, the YSRCP claims that they wrote multiple letters to the General Administration Department (GAD). They offered to pay for certain items while returning the rest. Lella Appireddy, YSRCP’s MLC and General Secretary, even filed a petition in the High Court. They claim the GAD delayed responding to their requests, pushing them to take legal action.
High Court Hearing: Petition Faces Hurdles
The High Court heard the case recently. However, during the session, the public prosecutor pointed out mistakes in the petition’s documentation. Justice B. Krishna Mohan questioned why the petition was filed despite these errors. After the petitioner’s lawyer requested time to correct them, the court adjourned the case for two weeks.
The YSRCP insists they want a fair resolution. They argue they tried to cooperate with the GAD but faced delays.
Public Reaction: Calls for Accountability
The public is now questioning the ethical use of government property. Many believe that public officials should be more transparent when it comes to managing taxpayer-funded resources. The political tension between the YSRCP and TDP adds to the drama, with both sides using the issue to attack each other.
As the High Court prepares to revisit the case, citizens are eager to see how this dispute will be resolved. Will it bring clarity, or will it just intensify the political rivalry?
