Jagan Delusion: Blames Lies and EVMs for Election Defeat

Jagan’s Denial Over Election Defeat

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to grapple with his party’s loss in the 2024 state elections. Four months after the polls, Jagan remains adamant that external factors—rather than his party’s internal failings—led to his defeat. Speaking to his party cadres recently, Jagan attributed his Election defeat to electronic voting machines (EVMs) and the alleged deceit of his political rival, Chandrababu Naidu.

“If I Lied Like Chandrababu, I’d Still Be CM”

During a candid conversation with his supporters, Jagan Mohan Reddy made a striking statement. He remarked, “Perhaps if I had lied like Chandrababu, I would still be sitting in the Chief Minister’s seat today.” His exact words were, “Chandrababu laga abaddam(lies) cheppunte nenu malli CM seat lo kurchune vadini emo.” This statement reflects Jagan’s belief that Chandrababu Naidu used manipulative tactics to win voter support, a strategy Jagan claims he refused to adopt.

By making such remarks, Jagan attempts to justify his defeat while positioning himself as a leader with integrity, one who chose not to deceive the public for political gain. However, this narrative does not address the broader concerns many voters and analysts have raised about his administration.

EVMs and Blame Game Continue After 2024 Election Defeat

Jagan also revisited the argument that faulty EVMs played a significant role in his party’s loss. This is not the first time that Jagan and his party have questioned the reliability of EVMs, but such claims have been consistently debunked by election authorities. Despite this, Jagan persists in blaming these external factors rather than looking within his own administration for answers.

Internal Flaws Ignored by Jagan

Political analysts have pointed out that YSR Congress Party lost the election not due to lies or EVM malfunctions but because of deeper governance issues. The NDA coalition, led by Chandrababu Naidu, won an impressive 93% of the seats in the state assembly—a feat that can hardly be explained by mere lies. Jagan’s unwillingness to reflect on the shortcomings of his governance could be costing him more political ground in the state.

Future at Risk for Jagan and YSR Congress

The longer Jagan holds onto these delusions, the more he risks alienating his party from the voters. Political observers have noted that his refusal to engage in self-assessment could leave room for the NDA to further consolidate their influence in Andhra Pradesh. While Jagan continues to focus on blaming external factors like EVMs and Chandrababu’s alleged deceit, his political rivals are moving forward, strengthening their presence in the state.

Conclusion: Time for Reflection

As Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to dwell on the supposed external reasons for his defeat, he may be missing the opportunity to rebuild his party. To regain his footing in Andhra Pradesh politics, Jagan will need to shift his focus away from blame and toward addressing the internal flaws that led to his loss.
