Jagan Addresses His Faith Amidst Tirumala Controversy

Jagan Responds to Faith Queries: “Yes, I Read the Bible Behind Closed Doors”

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy recently addressed the media following the cancellation of his planned Tirumala temple visit and he said his faith on tirumala laddu. During the interaction, he took a significant step in clarifying ongoing speculation about his religious beliefs, a topic that has been frequently raised by various political and religious groups.

Jagan’s Bold Statement on His Faith

Amid persistent questions about his faith, Jagan stated, “People keep asking me what caste I belong to. Let me clear this up once and for all—yes, I read the Bible at home behind closed doors. What’s wrong with that?” His response was direct and intended to put an end to the continuous scrutiny surrounding his personal religious practices.

Respect for All Religions

While Jagan openly acknowledged his Christian faith, he was quick to emphasize his respect for Hinduism and other religions. He added, “Though I read the Bible at home, when I go out, I practice Hindu customs and respect the culture. I do the same with Islam and Sikhism.” This statement underscored his inclusive approach to religion and his respect for the diverse faiths practiced in India.

Political and Religious Pressure

Jagan’s remarks came after continued pressure from BJP leaders and certain Hindutva groups, who demanded that he officially declare his Hindu faith if he wished to enter the Tirumala temple. This controversy has been lingering, with many questioning whether Jagan adheres to Hindu practices in public but maintains a different faith in private.

A Rare Public Clarification

This is one of the rare occasions where Jagan has openly addressed such questions about his faith. By acknowledging his personal beliefs while showing respect for other religious customs, Jagan has attempted to bridge the gap between private faith and public duty.
