India’s Largest Cricket Stadium to Rise in Amaravati
Amaravati’s India’s Largest Cricket Stadium Plan
Amaravati is set to create history by building India’s largest cricket stadium. The stadium will span 60 acres in the Sports City area and will accommodate 1.25 lakh spectators. This impressive capacity will surpass the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, solidifying Amaravati’s place on the global sporting map.
The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has spearheaded this ambitious project. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, who also serves as ACA President, confirmed that they have requested land allocation from the state government. The stadium will form an integral part of Amaravati’s 200-acre Sports City.
Funding and Vision
The ACA plans to secure financial assistance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They also aim to raise additional funds locally. With world-class infrastructure, the stadium will attract international attention and boost Amaravati’s reputation in sports.
In addition to the new stadium, the ACA intends to modernize the Vizag Stadium. These upgrades will prepare it to host Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, further elevating Andhra Pradesh’s cricketing status.
Cricket Academies for Emerging Talent
The ACA has announced the establishment of three cricket academies across the state. These academies will be located in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada, and Rayalaseema. Former Indian cricket stars Mithali Raj and Robin Singh will oversee the training programs. Their involvement ensures professional guidance for young players, helping them hone their skills for future competitions.
India’s Largest Cricket Stadium: Amaravati’s Sporting Aspirations
This stadium is more than a venue; it’s a game-changer for Indian cricket. It is likely to host the 2029 National Games, showcasing Amaravati as a premier destination for major events.
Moreover, local players will receive opportunities to compete at higher levels, including IPL matches. The ACA’s focus on nurturing homegrown talent reflects their long-term vision for cricket in Andhra Pradesh.
