Several YSR Congress Party (YCP) MPs attended the dinner, showing respect and support for Revanth’s political journey. However, this gesture did not sit well with Jagan, who perceived it as a breach of loyalty.

Balineni Srinivas Reddy, a senior YCP leader and close confidant of the YS family for over two decades, revealed the aftermath of this dinner. He stated that Jagan noted down the names of all 17 YCP MPs who attended the event. Their participation in Revanth’s dinner led to a surprising outcome — none of them received party tickets in the 2024 elections.
This decision showcased Jagan’s monopolistic tendencies and his zero-tolerance approach toward perceived disloyalty. While it highlighted his control over the party, it backfired politically. The YCP’s representation in Parliament drastically reduced, from 22 MPs in 2019 to just 4 in 2024.
Revanth’s Indirect Role in YCP’s Decline
Interestingly, Revanth Reddy’s dinner, though unintended, played a significant role in altering YCP’s political trajectory. Revanth himself acknowledged the strained relationship, noting that Jagan never congratulated him on becoming CM in 2023, despite being a neighboring state leader.
