Gaddar Receive the Padma Award? Bandi Sanjay Strong Reaction
Debate Over Padma Award for Gaddar Sparks Controversy
The Telangana government has shown great enthusiasm in honoring the late revolutionary singer Gaddar, known for his significant contributions to the Telangana separatist movement. This has fueled growing demands to award Gaddar the prestigious Padma Award posthumously. Bandi Sanjay opposes the idea of awarding Gaddar the Padma Award, citing his controversial past.
However, the idea has met with strong opposition from BJP leader Bandi Sanjay, who made his stance clear in a recent media interaction.
Bandi Sanjay’s Strong Opposition on Padma Award to Gaddar
When asked if the Government of India might consider granting the Padma Award, Bandi Sanjay did not hold back.
“Gaddar ki Padma Award iyyam… baraabar iyyam,” Bandi firmly stated, visibly agitated. He justified his position by highlighting Gaddar’s controversial past.
According to Bandi:
- Gaddar was a far-left sympathizer and associated with the Naxalite movement.
- He allegedly supported acts of violence that targeted BJP workers and Telangana police officers.
- His songs, according to Bandi, glorified those who killed hundreds of BJP leaders and police officials.
“How can we honor someone who conspired against BJP leaders and police officers with a Padma Award?” Bandi questioned.
Backlash from Congress Leaders
Bandi Sanjay’s comments have triggered a wave of outrage from Congress leaders in Telangana. In retaliation, Congress workers staged protests in front of BJP offices, burning posters of Bandi Sanjay.
The protests have created a tense political atmosphere in Telangana, further intensifying the already heated debate over Gaddar’s legacy and whether he deserves the prestigious honor.
What Lies Ahead?
While Bandi Sanjay’s remarks make it clear that the central government has no intention of considering Gaddar for the Padma Award, the controversy continues to polarize political parties and the public alike.
For now, the debate remains unresolved, with both sides holding firm to their positions.
