Farmers Prefer Bonus Over Rythu Bandhu, Says Thummala

Farmers Demand Bonus Over Rythu Bandhu

Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao has highlighted a significant shift in farmers’ preferences. Speaking at a farmers’ program in Mahabubnagar, he stated that many farmers are prioritizing bonuses over Rythu Bandhu assistance. The bonus scheme offers Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 15,000 per acre, significantly benefiting the agricultural community.

Rao noted that farmers across Telangana expressed satisfaction with the bonus initiative. They believe it provides more tangible support compared to the direct financial assistance under Rythu Bandhu.

Congress Government’s Farmer-Centric Approach

The Congress government, according to Rao, is dedicated to addressing farmers’ needs and delivering effective schemes. He assured farmers that their demands would guide government policies.

“We won’t mislead farmers with empty promises or vague assurances like Rythu Bharosa, bonus, or crop insurance. We will only commit to what is practical and beneficial,” he stated.

Record-Breaking Paddy Cultivation in Telangana

Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy also participated in the program. He highlighted Telangana’s remarkable achievement in paddy cultivation this season. With 66.77 lakh acres under cultivation, the State produced a record-breaking 153 lakh metric tonnes of paddy.

To support farmers, the Congress government has committed Rs. 17,000 crore for paddy procurement. This includes a Rs. 500 per quintal bonus for fine rice varieties. The bonus initiative has been welcomed by farmers as a significant boost to their income.

Rythu Bandhu: Farmers’ Welfare a Priority

The Congress government emphasized its commitment to implementing schemes that address the actual needs of farmers. By focusing on bonuses and procurement initiatives, the government aims to enhance the agricultural economy.

Rao and Reddy urged farmers to continue voicing their concerns, assuring them that the government remains responsive to their requirements.

A Shift Towards Practical Benefits

Farmers in Telangana are advocating for practical support mechanisms like bonuses that directly improve their financial stability. With the government listening closely to their needs, initiatives like the bonus scheme are likely to redefine agricultural support in the State.
