Andhra Pradesh’s chilli (Mirchi) farmers, who were struggling to get a fair price for their produce, have finally received relief. Thanks to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s swift intervention, the crisis was resolved within a single day. Naidu’s Direct Involvement Brings Immediate Action
A few days ago, YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the Guntur chilli yard, allegedly violating the election code, to highlight the farmers’ concerns. However, Chandrababu Naidu had already taken proactive steps to address the issue.
- Naidu wrote to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, requesting central intervention.
- During his Delhi visit for Rekha Gupta’s swearing-in ceremony, he took the issue directly to the Union Agriculture Ministry for a swift resolution.
- Since Shivraj Singh Chouhan was unavailable at the time, Naidu’s arrival prompted an immediate virtual meeting with ministry officials.
Central Government Increases Procurement Limit to 75%
Naidu explained the financial struggles of chilli farmers and urged the central government to intervene. Recognizing the urgency, Chouhan:
- Discussed the matter overnight with key officials.
- Held a special meeting with Agriculture and Marketing department officials.
- Decided to increase the procurement limit under the Market Intervention Scheme from 25% to 75%, ensuring immediate relief for farmers.
Mirchi Farmers Receive Immediate Relief
Following the decision:
- Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu and AP officials held a virtual meeting with Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
- The Union Minister formally conveyed the decision and instructed officials to take immediate action.
