CBN Secures 608 Cr Disaster Aid: AP Gets the Largest Share

Andhra Pradesh Receives 608 Cr in Central Disaster Relief

In a significant development, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, along with three other states, have received financial assistance from the Centre for disaster relief. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah-led high-level committee has approved ₹1,554.99 crore in additional central aid for five states, namely: Andhra Pradesh secures 608 Cr in disaster aid, the highest among five states

  • Odisha
  • Nagaland
  • Tripura

Among these, Andhra Pradesh received the largest share, securing ₹608.08 crore under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). The credit largely goes to AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, who, in alliance with the BJP-led Centre, ensured the state gets the required support.


Amit Shah Confirms Additional Disaster Relief Funds

Union Home Minister Amit Shah took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the decision:

“The Modi government stands like a rock in support of the disaster-affected people. Today, the MHA approved an additional central assistance of ₹1,554.99 crore to Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Odisha, Telangana, and Tripura under the NDR fund. This is in addition to the ₹18,322.80 crore released by the Centre to 27 states under the SDR fund.”


608 Cr: Disaster Relief Fund Allocation Breakdown

The funds are allocated under the NDRF (National Disaster Response Fund) to help states recover from natural calamities, including floods, flash floods, landslides, and cyclonic storms that struck in 2024.

State-wise Disaster Aid Distribution

Andhra Pradesh: ₹608.08 crore
Nagaland: ₹170.99 crore
Odisha: ₹255.24 crore
Telangana: ₹231.75 crore
Tripura: ₹288.93 crore

This funding is expected to aid the states in disaster relief and reconstruction efforts.


Additional Funds Under SDRF and Other Schemes

Apart from the ₹1,554.99 crore under NDRF, the Centre has also allocated:

₹18,322.80 crore to 27 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)
₹4,808.30 crore from NDRF to 18 states
₹2,208.55 crore from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF) to 14 states
₹719.72 crore from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) to eight states
