The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Cabinet approves Rs 11,471 crore for important development projects in Amaravati. This approval follows the clearance from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Monday.


Cabinet Approves Rs 11,471 Crore: Key Infrastructure Projects in Amaravati

The Cabinet decided to cancel previous tenders and issue fresh ones for the works. These projects include building administrative towers, an Assembly building, and the High Court complex. The initial budget for these projects was Rs 41,000 crore, but costs have risen by 30% due to delays under the previous government.

Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana mentioned that the cost of constructing 360 km of trunk roads has increased by Rs 460 crore. The tenders for these works are expected by December. These projects are critical to improving Amaravati’s infrastructure.


Policies to Boost Andhra Pradesh’s Economy

The Cabinet also approved several policies aimed at boosting the state’s economy. Minister for Information and Public Relations, Kolusu Parthasarathi, highlighted new initiatives, including the Andhra Pradesh Information Technology and Global Capability Centres (IT-GCC) Policy, the AP Textile, Apparel and Garments Policy, and the AP Maritime Policy.

The IT-GCC Policy aims to transform Andhra Pradesh into a global hub for knowledge-based industries. Additionally, the government is committed to the ‘One Family, One Industrialist’ initiative. This program focuses on creating co-working spaces and improving basic amenities to foster job creation and entrepreneurship.


Maritime Development Focus

The new Maritime Policy aims to make Andhra Pradesh a leader in maritime trade. The state’s coastline of 975 km is the longest in India. This policy will help Andhra Pradesh surpass Gujarat in the maritime sector. The government is also focusing on developing the shipbuilding industry and in talks with the Prime Minister to establish a mega shipyard in the state.
