BRS: “It Was Just a Family Gathering” After Farmhouse Raid

Police Raid on Raj Pakala’s Farmhouse Response with Family Gathering

In the early hours of Sunday, October 27, Cyberabad’s Special Operation Team (SOT) conducted a raid at a farmhouse owned by Raj Pakala, the brother-in-law of former Telangana IT Minister and BRS working president KTR. The raid revealed significant findings, including seven unauthorized bottles of foreign liquor, totaling 10.5 liters, and 10 bottles of Indian-made liquor. Reports indicate that around 30 people were present at the family gathering.

BRS’s Defense: A Family Gathering

In light of the police intervention, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) responded through KP Vivekanand, the MLA for Qutbullapur. He characterized the event as a family function to celebrate a new home purchase. Vivekanand emphasized that attendees ranged from children to senior citizens, including Raj Pakala’s mother.

He questioned the legitimacy of the police raid, stating, “Who doesn’t have drinks at home? Doesn’t Revanth have drinks at his home?” His remarks highlight the common practice of serving alcohol at family gatherings. Furthermore, he criticized the manner in which the police executed the raid, suggesting it lacked proper legal procedure: “Without a search warrant or notice, how did the police come?”

Accusations Against CM Revanth Reddy

Vivekanand accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of being overly fixated on KTR, implying that the raid was politically motivated. “He wants to nab KTR one way or another,” the MLA stated, suggesting that the government may be using this incident to target the BRS leadership unfairly.

Context of the Raid

The raid comes just after a police presence was reported at KTR’s residence in Banjara Hills, where it was suspected that family members were also participating in a gathering. This series of events has raised questions about police actions and the potential misuse of authority in politically sensitive cases.

Conclusion: Political Undertones in Police Action

The BRS’s defense emphasizes that the gathering was a private family celebration rather than a public event involving illicit activities. As tensions rise, the party is poised to challenge the police’s actions while asserting its innocence. The raid has ignited discussions about political motivations behind law enforcement actions and the broader implications for governance in Telangana.
