BRS Challenges Chandrababu to Prove His ‘Love’ for Telangana
BRS Challenges Chandrababu Again!
Telangana’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has once again taken aim at Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu. Senior BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao has thrown down a challenge to Naidu, questioning his commitment to Telangana. Harish Rao demanded and BRS challenges that Chandrababu, who is now playing a key role in the NDA government, should ensure a fair share for Telangana from the central government.
Harish Rao’s Challenge to Chandrababu
Harish Rao publicly challenged Naidu, saying:
🗣️ “If you truly love Telangana, then secure central approvals for crucial irrigation projects like Sammakka Sarakka, Wardha, Seethamma Sagar, and the Kaleshwaram third project.”
He further added:
✅ “If you achieve this, we will accept your ‘two eyes’ policy and believe in your love for Telangana.”
This direct challenge has sparked fresh debates about Naidu’s political stance regarding Telangana.
🚰 Water Dispute Back in Focus
Harish Rao also accused Chandrababu of neglecting Telangana’s interests in the past. He demanded that Andhra Pradesh:
✔ Permit Telangana to utilize 969 TMC of water from the Godavari River, which was allocated earlier.
According to Rao, Chandrababu did nothing for Telangana and now has a chance to prove his sincerity by securing what Telangana deserves from the central government.
Why Is BRS Challenges Chandrababu Now?
While Harish Rao’s comments are not unexpected, the timing has raised eyebrows.
Why is BRS suddenly targeting Chandrababu Naidu now?
Why did they remain silent when YS Jagan was in power?
Political analysts suggest that this is a strategic move by BRS. The party is trying to:
Revive the Telangana sentiment by positioning itself as the sole defender of Telangana’s rights.
Divert public attention from other political issues in the state.
Indirectly benefit their political ally, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, by shifting focus away from Andhra Pradesh’s current leadership.
When Jagan was in power, BRS hardly raised such issues. But now, with Chandrababu back in power in both AP and at the Centre, BRS has suddenly changed its tone.
Is This Political Opportunism?
Many believe that this challenge is less about Telangana’s development and more about political strategy. With the next elections in sight, BRS seems to be:
Projecting itself as the only party fighting for Telangana’s rights
Creating political pressure on Naidu and the NDA government
Attempting to weaken Chandrababu’s growing influence in national politics
While the irrigation projects and water allocation are critical issues, the political motives behind the challenge cannot be ignored.
What Happens Next?
Will Chandrababu respond to Harish Rao’s challenge?
Will the NDA government take steps to address Telangana’s concerns?
Or is this just another political move to corner Naidu and his government?
As the political battle between BRS and TDP intensifies, only time will tell if Telangana gets what it demands or if this remains another war of words.
