BJP Poised to Form Government in Delhi After 27 Years? Exit Polls Favor BJP

The Delhi Assembly election campaign has officially concluded, with polling wrapping up at 5 PM yesterday. The voter turnout stood at 60%, a moderate and expected figure for the national capital. As anticipation builds, exit polls from leading agencies indicate a landslide victory for the BJP, potentially marking their BJP Poised to Form Government in Delhi after 27 years.

Exit Poll Predictions: BJP Dominates

According to Today’s Chanakya, the predicted seat share is:

  • BJP: 51 seats (49%)
  • AAP: 19 seats (41%)
  • OTH: 0 seats (10%)

Meanwhile, Axis My India projects:

  • BJP: 50 seats (45–55 range)
  • AAP: 20 seats (15–25 range)
  • INC: 0 seats (0–1 range)

Both agencies suggest that the BJP could secure at least 50 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly, signaling a potential shift in the capital’s political landscape.

BJP Poised to Form Government After Decades?

The BJP last formed a government in Delhi in 1998, after which Congress and AAP dominated the political scene. However, if the exit poll predictions materialize, the BJP will break a 27-year hiatus and reclaim power.

Adding to the speculation, political analysts suggest that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal might face a tough battle in his own constituency, New Delhi. Some reports indicate a strong anti-incumbency wave that could even lead to Kejriwal’s defeat.

AAP Dismisses Exit Polls, Confident of Victory

Despite the overwhelming exit poll results favoring BJP, AAP leaders remain confident. They argue that these projections do not accurately represent Delhi’s voter sentiment. The party is optimistic about securing a third consecutive win, aiming for a hat-trick victory.

With exit polls predicting a BJP victory, all eyes are now set on February 8, when the official counting of votes begins. By 10–10:30 AM, the initial trends will provide clarity on whether BJP will indeed reclaim Delhi or if AAP defies the predictions once again.

Stay tuned for the final election results and updates.
