Telangana Government Cracks Down on Betting App
The Telangana government is intensifying its crackdown on illegal betting app, with IPS officer Sajanar actively handling the case. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently addressed the state assembly. Affirming that strong measures will be taken to eliminate these activities. shifting all cases to the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Now, in a major legal move, the state government has decided to transfer all betting app-related cases to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for deeper scrutiny.
Betting App Cases Moved to SIT
During a recent court hearing in Hyderabad, the government’s lawyer announced that all pending betting app cases will now be investigated by SIT. These cases were registered at the Punjagutta and Miyapur police stations.
This includes cases filed against social media influencers and celebrities who allegedly promoted these illegal betting platforms. Notably, Tollywood actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati were also named in these investigations.

Both Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati have strongly refuted the allegations against them. Their key arguments include:
✔ Old Endorsements – Their promotional ads for these platforms were recorded years ago, and they argue that they are no longer relevant today.
✔ Legal Documentation – Both actors claim they possess proper legal paperwork proving their non-involvement in any illegal activities.
Despite their defense, the SIT will now decide the course of action and whether further investigation is needed.

Now that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is in charge, the focus will likely shift towards social media influencers and digital promoters who were directly involved in endorsing illegal betting apps.
