Beware of Fake Videos – AP Police Issues Urgent Alert
The tragic stampede at Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupathi has left the community in shock. With four lives lost and 25 others injured, the incident has stirred deep sorrow. However, amidst the grief, some individuals are exploiting the situation by spreading fake videos on social media.
One such video, falsely claiming that an ambulance driver was demanding an exorbitant amount of money, has been circulating. The video, originally from 2022, has been wrongly linked to the recent stampede incident. In response, the Andhra Pradesh Police issued an urgent warning to the public to be cautious about misinformation.
“URGENT: Beware of old videos being recirculated as recent footage from #TirupatiStampede. This particular video is from an incident that occurred in Tirupati in 2022, not yesterday. We urge citizens to verify facts before sharing to avoid spreading misinformation,” read a tweet from the official AP Police handle.
The government, including Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has received criticism for failing to make the necessary arrangements despite knowing the risk of a stampede. Naidu has vowed to look into the matter seriously and initiate action against those responsible.
The public urged to report any further fake videos and avoid contributing to the spread of false information. As investigations continue, the authorities focused on ensuring justice and preventing similar incidents in the future.
A Call to Action
The Andhra Pradesh government urges the citizens to help curb misinformation by verifying the facts before sharing any content online. In addition to the tragic loss of life and injuries, fake videos are causing further confusion and complicating the situation. Everyone must act responsibly and help prevent the spread of false information.
In the coming days, the public can expect more updates from the authorities regarding the investigation into the incident and the future course of action to ensure the safety of all pilgrims visiting religious sites.
