Attack on TDP Office: Arrests and Allegations

11 Arrested in Gannavaram TDP Office Attack

Andhra Pradesh Police have arrested 11 individuals linked to the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram. Among those arrested is Raja, the personal assistant of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and ex-MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan.

The arrests occurred in areas including Vijayawada Rural, Gannavaram, Bapulapadu, and Ungutur. Earlier, the Andhra Pradesh High Court directed the police to avoid taking coercive action against Vamsi, who is also an accused in the case. Police arrested 11 individuals in connection with the attack on TDP’s Gannavaram office, including a personal aide of ex-MLA Vallabhaneni

Allegations Against Vamsi Mohan

Vamsi allegedly instigated his supporters to vandalize the TDP office in February 2023. During the incident, cars belonging to TDP leaders damaged, and two vehicles set on fire.

The attack happened after tensions escalated between TDP and YSRCP supporters. This followed remarks made by Vamsi about TDP leaders Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh.

Political Retaliation and Its Aftermath on Attack on TDP Office

The rivalry intensified after the TDP coalition came to power in June. Supporters of the party allegedly attacked Vamsi’s residence. Vamsi, who lost in the 2024 elections, had earlier switched from TDP to YSRCP in 2020 after winning from Gannavaram in 2019.

Renewed Investigations

Under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, fresh investigations began into attacks on TDP offices. These include the Gannavaram incident and the 2021 attack on the party’s central office in Mangalagiri.

In October 2021, YSRCP supporters allegedly vandalized the TDP headquarters. This followed controversial remarks by TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. Several prominent YSRCP leaders, including former MLC Nandigama Suresh, MLC Lella Appi Reddy, and Devineni Avinash, were named in the case.

Additionally, YSRCP General Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy was questioned over the Mangalagiri office attack. These developments highlight the escalating political conflict in Andhra Pradesh.
