AP Cabinet Approves Rs 11,471 Crore for Amaravati Development
Cabinet Approves Amaravati Development Projects
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has given the green light to Amaravati development projects worth Rs 11,471 crore. The approval follows a review by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Monday. This decision marks a key step in advancing Amaravati’s infrastructure.
New Tenders and Increased Costs
The Cabinet decided to cancel the existing tenders and call for fresh ones. This will ensure greater transparency and efficiency in the development process. Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana noted that the cost for constructing 360 km of trunk roads has increased by Rs 460 crore. Additionally, the initial estimate for building major structures such as the Assembly building, administrative towers, and the High Court complex was Rs 41,000 crore. Due to delays, this cost has now risen by 30%.
Key Infrastructure Projects Under Amaravati Development
The major projects in Amaravati include the construction of an Assembly building, administrative towers, and a High Court complex. The Cabinet aims to call tenders for these projects by December. These developments will enhance the capital city’s infrastructure and contribute to its growth.
Strategic Economic Policies for Growth
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has also introduced new policies to boost the state’s economy. These include the Andhra Pradesh Information Technology and Global Capability Centres (IT-GCC) policy, the AP Textile, Apparel, and Garments policy, and the AP Maritime policy. The IT-GCC policy will help transform Andhra Pradesh into a global knowledge economy hub. The Maritime policy aims to enhance the state’s maritime industry, capitalizing on its extensive coastline.
Employment and Economic Development Initiatives
The government remains committed to creating more employment opportunities for the youth. Through its “One Family, One Industrialist” initiative, the state aims to promote co-working spaces and improve infrastructure. This policy is expected to provide more high-paying jobs, particularly in IT and maritime sectors.
Plans for Maritime Growth and Shipbuilding Industry
With its 975 km coastline, Andhra Pradesh ranks second in India for maritime activities. The state’s new Maritime policy is designed to elevate its position, surpassing Gujarat. Additionally, the government is exploring opportunities to establish a mega shipyard. This will support the growing shipbuilding industry and create critical infrastructure for maritime businesses.
