AP Budget 2024 Highlights: Focus on Growth and Welfare
The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, unveiled its first ap budget 2024 today in Amaravati. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented a budget of ₹2.94 lakh crores, aiming to boost the state’s growth in multiple sectors. The budget emphasizes rural development, healthcare, and social welfare.
The total revenue expenditure stands at ₹2.34 lakh crores, while fiscal and revenue deficits are projected at ₹68,743 crores and ₹34,743 crores, respectively. In line with its priorities, the government has allocated ₹18,421 crores to strengthen healthcare services across the state.
Pawan Kalyan’s Ministry Receives Top Funding
A key highlight of the budget is the major allocation for Pawan Kalyan’s Panchayati Raj Ministry. The government has earmarked ₹16,739 crores to enhance rural infrastructure. This move supports Pawan Kalyan’s dedication to transforming villages. His ministry will use these funds to improve water supply, sanitation, and rural roads.
Given Pawan Kalyan’s role in securing the NDA’s victory in the recent elections, this substantial budget allocation reflects the government’s recognition of his efforts. It also shows a commitment to fulfilling promises made during the campaign.
AP Budget 2024: Additional Support for Pawan Kalyan’s Portfolios
In addition to Panchayati Raj, Pawan Kalyan also oversees the Forest and Environment department, which will receive ₹687 crores. This allocation will help protect forests and promote environmental projects.
Prioritizing Key Sectors: Irrigation, Urban Development, and Welfare
The budget places significant emphasis on infrastructure. The Irrigation sector, critical for agriculture, has allotted ₹16,705 crores. Urban development projects have received ₹11,490 crores to modernize cities.
In social welfare, the budget provides ₹3,907 crores for BC Welfare, ₹4,376 crores for Minority Welfare, and ₹7,557 crores for ST Welfare. These funds aim to uplift marginalized communities and support their development.
AP Budget 2024: Investments in Skill Development and Housing
The government is committed to creating jobs. For this, the Skill Development department has received ₹1,215 crores to train youth and improve employability. The housing sector, vital for the underprivileged, has been allocated ₹4,012 crores to provide affordable homes.
Enhanced Security Measures and Cybercrime Prevention
The Police Department has received ₹8,495 crores to enhance law enforcement capabilities. Additionally, the government will establish cyber police stations in every district to tackle rising cybercrimes. The Energy sector has allocated ₹8,207 crores to boost power supply and sustainability.
Focus on Agriculture and Sports Development
Agriculture remains a key focus, with ₹43,402 crores dedicated to supporting farmers. The budget also introduces a 3% sports quota for merit-based sportspersons, encouraging youth participation in sports and physical activities.
