AP Assembly Embraces Decorum and Constructive Governance
AP Assembly Undergoes a Positive Transformation
The Andhra Pradesh (AP) Assembly, once notorious for its heated arguments and personal attacks, has undergone a significant transformation. During the YSR Congress Party (YCP) regime led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, assembly sessions were often marred by verbal abuses and personal remarks, especially targeting opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu. However, with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) taking charge, the assembly has shifted its focus to meaningful debates and constructive policy discussions.
The Dark Days of “Boothulu” Culture in AP Assembly
One of the most criticized aspects of the YCP’s governance was the behavior of its members during assembly sessions. Despite commanding robust majority of 151 seats, the sessions often dominated by abusive language and personal attacks.
YCP leaders such as Kodali Nani, Roja, Anil Kumar Yadav, and others frequently crossed boundaries, turning assembly discussions into a spectacle of humiliation and chaos. At its peak in 2022, even Chandrababu Naidu’s family was subjected to derogatory remarks. The assembly lost its sanctity as a place for meaningful dialogue and became a hub of unwarranted conflicts.
A Shift Towards Constructive Dialogue
With the NDA government now in power and Chandrababu Naidu leading as the Chief Minister, the AP Assembly has turned over a new leaf. The current sessions focus on productive discussions, policy-making, and evaluating the NDA’s five-month performance.
The atmosphere in the assembly has notably improved. MLAs are engaging in parliamentary-style debates, emphasizing constructive criticism and ambitious developmental plans. This positive reinforcement has been widely welcomed by citizens who disillusioned with previous administration’s chaotic governance style.
The Role of YCP’s Declining Presence
The YCP’s diminishing strength in the assembly, coupled with Jagan’s absence, has contributed to this transformation. The current sessions marked by orderliness and purpose, ensuring that every discussion has a tangible impact on governance.
Under Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership, the assembly is now working towards policies that aim to elevate Andhra Pradesh’s development trajectory. Discussions have moved away from personal vendettas to focus on economic growth, infrastructure development, and public welfare.
A Fresh Start for Andhra Pradesh
The shift in the assembly’s functioning is a much-needed change for Andhra Pradesh. After enduring five years of verbal abuse and unproductive sessions, the citizens now witness governance rooted in accountability and progress. The assembly has become a platform for constructive feedback and visionary policymaking, setting the stage for a brighter future.
